Newport Jardin Mirror
Regence Period (c. 1715) French overmantle mirror supplied by the French decorating house of Carlhian to the George Widenener Collection now at Newport. The original resides at the Rosecliff Mansion. The frame surround is a variety of open "C" scrolls with inset clear mirror panels - also available with antique mercury glass inset panels. Ours is shown with a charming flower basket centered in the fronton. The original has a bird-like griffin that is also available. The frame is finished in ancient gold leaf and the supporting back panel in antique French green. The inch and one half thick supporting back can be finished in other colors including gold leaf on special request. CARVERS' GUILD licensee to: THE PRESERVATION SOCIETY OF NEWPORT COUNTY.
